Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy player Noah McFadyen has been named in the NAB AFL Under 16 All-Australian team after producing strong performances for Queensland at the Under 16 National Championships.
McFadyen, also a Wilston Grange junior, is a medium forward with clean hands overhead and at ground level and an exceptional kick for goal. He kicked eight goals against the Northern Territory to cap off his 2019 NAB AFL Under-16 Championship averaging 10.3 disposals, 5.3 marks and 4.7 goals. His older brother Connor is on the Brisbane Lions list and has been starring in the undefeated NEAFL side in recent weeks.
AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan once again headed the selection panel which included:
Luke Power - AFL National Academy Head Coach/Manager
Troy Selwood - Geelong Cats Football Club
Chris Liberatore - St Kilda Football Club
Mitch Cashion - Hawthorn Football Club
Leon Harris - Brisbane Lions Football Club
"Making the 2019 NAB AFL Under-16 All-Australian team is a fantastic recognition for each player's performance in the Championships. Each player named will be included in the NAB AFL Academy's 23rd intake," said Mr Sheehan.
"The players will also form part of the Australian Under-17 team which will play New Zealand as part of ANZAC Round in 2020 under the guidance of NAB AFL Academy coach Luke Power."
