Co-Captain Jonathan Brown is set to be unleashed this Saturday night for the Lions’ NAB Cup clash against Collingwood at Etihad Stadium.

Brown will prove a welcome addition to the Lions’ team, who could qualify for the pre-season Grand Final with a win over the in-form Magpies.

But Senior Coach Michael Voss was quick to tone down any unrealistic expectations surrounding his skipper’s imminent return.

“Browny will be back,” Voss said.

“(But) I don’t think we can expect eight goals.”

“One of the things we’re hell-bent on making sure is that we don’t become too reliant on him. We’ve got to make sure we have our 5-6 guys that demand attention, and put a structure around (Brown) so that he doesn’t become the focal point of our attack.”

Brown will be among a handful of regular senior players ready to return for the Collingwood match, along with the likes of Daniel Rich, Daniel Merrett, Joel Patfull, Ash McGrath and Andrew Raines.

“We probably should have around 4-5 (players) that will return. So I guess spots (in the Round One side) heat up a little bit,” Voss said.

“We’ll certainly put a full-strength outfit out there for sure.”

Meanwhile, Voss was pleased with the progress of stars Matthew Leuenberger, Jed Adcock and Pearce Hanley, who came through unscathed from their first pre-season hit-out in last week's three-point win over GWS in Wagga.

“They got varying runs, but we’ve still got guys who need to get themselves in some sort of condition,” Voss said.

"We got a half out of (Matthew) Leuenberger which was good.”

“Pearce missed the last 2-3 weeks, so he got his first game under his belt.”
