Claye Beams was one of the Brisbane Lions’ hard luck stories in 2013, after he ruptured his ACL at training early in the season.
Many predicted Beams was set for his ‘breakout’ AFL campaign, but unfortunately it all ended way too prematurely.
However, undergoing a knee reconstruction early in the season has at least meant that the young Queenslander should be able to complete a near full pre-season in readiness for 2014.
Beams was back running with the main group on the first day of pre-season and expects he’ll be able to complete a solid summer program.
“I’ve been able to do the whole off-season program with the boys,” Beams said.
“I’ve had an extra couple of knee sessions each week, but as far as restrictions go, there aren’t many now.
“I’m looking forward to a big pre-season where I can start training with the boys again and hopefully hit Round 1 next year.
“I beat my return goal time which was a bit of a relief.”
The 22-year-old will be hoping to build on the 15 senior AFL games he’s played across his first four seasons at the Lions.
