Brisbane Lions will take on Carlton this Sunday at 1:10pm AEDT at Ikon Park in Week One of the revamped 2020 NAB AFL Women’s Finals Series.
Head Coach Craig Starcevich said the team are feeling grateful to be playing this weekend.
“Given everything going on in the world right now, I think we are just grateful that we are playing footy,” Starcevich said.
“We’ve earned the spot to play finals and we’re looking forward to the challenge of playing.”
The team have not yet faced Carlton in the 2020 season.
“They’ve had a good year and have some key areas they’re particularly strong in,” he said.
“We think we can compete pretty well.”
The team completed their main training session for the week at Yeronga last night.
“Team morale is really strong,” Starcevich said.
“Last night was a really productive night at training and people are happy and want to keep playing which is fantastic.
“We’re looking forward to playing on.”
The game at Ikon Park will be closed to spectators.
“We know our Lions members and supporters will be cheering them on from their living rooms so we hope to do them proud.”
