Each year, the last month of summer leads into the start of a new season – football season!
Elliot Yeo and his Lions teammates are beginning to sense the imminent return of on-field action, with the Club’s first official pre-season hitout less than three weeks away.
The Lions’ match simulation training has also ramped up in the New Year, with a modified 16-a-side game conducted at the team’s most recent training session at Coorparoo.
Donning the new National Storage training guernsey, Yeo represented the ‘blue’ team alongside the likes of Daniel Rich, Jack Redden, Daniel Merrett, Matthew Leuenberger, and Ash McGrath.
After training, Yeo was interviewed by teammate Rohan Bewick – from the victorious Vero ‘red’ team – for LIONS TV.
“Today we did a bit of match simulation. It’s good to know that the NAB Cup’s coming up. It’s getting really exciting now,” Yeo told Bewick on LIONS TV.
“I played on Toddy Banfield, and the only time he got a touch was when I was on the bench, so I thought I did pretty well.”
“I’ve been playing half-back a fair bit, working with the defenders, and working on my defensive side.”
Bewick also quizzed Yeo on his obvious physical transformation over summer.
“(Spending time in the gym) has definitely been a big focus of mine,” Yeo said.
“Since I’ve gotten to the Club, I’ve put on close to 10kg. I’ve worked hard on my bench – when I first got to the Club I was benching around 70-75kg, now I’m doing close to 100kg.”
The video has already received rave reviews on the Club’s social media sites, with fans keen to see a more regular ‘Roh and Yeo’ show throughout the season.
Yeo raring to go
