BRISBANE LIONS Elite Performance Manager Brett Burton says the coming four day break will aid in defender Darcy Gardiner’s recovery from a shoulder injury.
Burton said the Bupa Support Team will manage Gardiner in the lead up to the Lions’ opening round match against Collingwood. He was cleared of any major damage on Monday after leaving the field late in the first quarter against the Suns on Friday night.
“We thought he might have subluxed his shoulder, but fortunately he didn’t.
“He’s a bit battered and bruised. He’s got the weekend off, so that’ll help it rest and he should be right for round one”, Burton said.
“We’ll have a main session tomorrow so they’ll have a big hit-out then and have a session on their four day break as well.
“They’ll be raring to go by the time they get back from their break on Monday”, he said.
“We’ll have a couple of sessions next week and then roll them out for Saturday night (April 4) against Collingwood at the Gabba.”
