Assistant Coach Simon Black says the Brisbane Lions will approach their final six matches as somewhat of a ‘mini-season’, with the Club determined to finish 2014 on a high note.

The Lions sit 17th on the ladder having won just four of their 16 matches so far this season, but aren’t simply going to throw the towel in.

Since the Round 10 Bye, the Lions have been far more competitive, winning three of their seven matches and falling just short in a couple of others.

Finals won’t be on the Lions’ agenda, but Black believes the next stretch of six matches could help the team build towards 2015.

“The last-seven week block we tried to make it almost a mini-season in itself, and we’ll probably do the same with the next six weeks after the Bye,” Black told LIONS TV as part of the Vero Coaches’ Wrap.

“We’ll try and break it down and have some mini goals along the way.

“I’m sure we’ll talk about it in the next week or so. Hopefully we can finish the season strong, and having really to build on for the New Year.”
