Scans this afternoon have confirmed that Brisbane Lions midfielder Claye Beams has ruptured his ACL.

The injury, to his left knee, was sustained this morning during training.

Lions General Manager -Football Operations, Dean Warren, said the injury was a huge disappointment for both Claye and the Club.

“Claye had an outstanding pre-season and was consolidating his position in our best 22, so understandably he’s devastated by this setback,” Warren said.

“We are certain Claye’s strong character will get him through this tough period and that he will approach his rehabilitation with absolute professionalism.”

Beams and the Club will now determine the best course of action for his rehabilitation.

Beams, 21, has played 15 senior games for the Lions, including the opening two rounds of the  2013 season.
