Insurance company Vero’s new commercial featuring the Brisbane Lions training in Post Office Square in the Brisbane CBD will be broadcast for the first time this weekend.

Fresh from their pre-season success, the Lions play a starring role as they are put through their paces during an impromptu training session – as puzzled office workers look on.

Stars including co-captains Jonathan Brown and Jed Adcock, Daniel Rich and Simon Black feature alongside a dozen other players, with Senior Coach Michael Voss directing proceedings.

Titled “City Sessions”, the commercial announces Vero’s four year major sponsorship of the Lions.

It draws a parallel between ‘performance indicators’ used to measure the Lions’ progress and those of businesses insured with Vero.

“Business obviously has its goals and they are always working towards that one thing. We are exactly the same,” said Tom Rockliff, the Brisbane Lions’ vice-captain.

The commercial will be seen on Foxtel coverage of all Brisbane Lions and Fox Footy Sunday games throughout the AFL season.

“Our sponsorship of the Brisbane Lions could not have started better given their success during the pre-season,” said Mr Anthony Day, CEO of Commercial Insurance at Suncorp.

“Vero is so pleased to be associated with the Lions and we’re going to be joining the tens of thousands of supporters across Australia in wishing them continued success in 2013.”
