Lions.com.au takes an in-depth look at the statistics from Saturday’s 19-point loss to Adelaide at the Gabba.

Disposals
Irishman Pearce Hanley was everywhere against the Crows, collecting a team-high 30 disposals – 14 of which were contested.

Brent Moloney (24) and Tom Rockliff (20) were the only other Lions players to get the ball 20 or more times.

Disposal Efficiency
Ryan Lester used the ball better than any other Lions player, with 94.7% of his 19 disposals being effective.

Hanley, meanwhile, also had an impressive efficiency rate of 80%, while Moloney, Rohan Bewick, Jonathan Brown, Rockliff, and Ash McGrath all had below 60%.

Hitouts
Matthew Leuenberger made an immediate impact upon his return in the ruck, winning a game-high 32 hitouts for the match.

In fact, Leuenberger and pinch-hitter Stefan Martin combined for 50 hitouts compared with Adelaide duo Sam Jacobs and Josh Jenkins’ 29.

Clearances
Unfortunately the Lions’ ascendency in the ruck didn’t positively impact the clearances, with Adelaide comprehensively winning the clearances 45-32.

Jack Redden was the Lions’ best clearance player with five, while Andrew Raines, Daniel Rich and Tom Rockliff each had four.

Tackles
The Lions won the tackle count for the second week in a row (65-59), with Brent Moloney leading the way with nine.

Jack Redden maintained his place among the League’s leading tacklers with seven, while Josh Green and Pearce Hanley each had five.

Inside 50s
The Lions might have gone inside their attacking zone 54 times, but they could only manage five marks inside 50m.

Pearce Hanley, Andrew Raines and Dayne Zorko kicked the ball inside 50m six times each – more than any other Lions player.

Goals
There are no Lions players threatening the Coleman Medal leaderboard, with Stefan Martin leading the way after two Rounds with three goals.

Martin was one of three multiple goal-scorers against the Crows, along with Josh Green and Dayne Zorko.

Jonathan Brown, meanwhile, continued his scoring struggle against Adelaide after being held goalless. Brown has now kicked just 15 goals in 15 matches against the Crows throughout his career.

Inaccuracy
The Lions had one more scoring shot than Adelaide last Saturday night (27-26) but could manage only 10 goals and 17 behinds – an accuracy of just 37%.

After kicking 7.17 in Round One against the Bulldogs (at a scoring average of just 29%), the Lions players will no doubt be trying to hone their skills in front of goal at training this week.

Dream Team
The Lions’ top five AFL Dream Team scorers were as follows:

124 – Pearce Hanley
101 – Brent Moloney
78 – Ryan Lester
78 – Daniel Merrett
77 – Jack Redden
77 – Tom Rockliff
