LAST TIME THEY MET
The Brisbane Lions failed to continue the momentum of a successful preseason, going down to the Western Bulldogs by 68 points in Round 1, 2013.

The Bulldogs kicked the first six goals of the game to set up a win over the 2013 NAB Cup premiers.

Despite coming into the game with winning form at Etihad Stadium, the Lions were unable to replicate the form they produced just weeks earlier.

The Bulldogs had winners all over the ground, most notably, Nick Lower, who kept Daniel Rich to just eight touches for the match.

A 35-point lead at the main break was extended further by the Dogs as the Lions failed to respond in the second half. Despite the best efforts of Tom Rockliff and Brent Moloney the Lions were unable to fight their way back into the contest.

The Lions woes were made worse with Matt Maguire being subbed off with an ankle injury and Pearce Hanley being suspended in the second quarter for rough conduct.
