Senior Coach Michael Voss has echoed the Club’s disappointment following an article published in The Courier Mail on Monday 18 February which directed serious allegations towards the Brisbane Lions.
Voss told Channel 7 News in Brisbane that he couldn’t understand how such “unsubstantiated” claims could be made public.
“It’s disappointing that it was chosen to be written on the back of insignificant evidence,” Voss told Channel 7.
“All I can say is that as a Club, and personally, I’m pretty disappointed and a little bit angry that (The Courier Mail) decided to take this action and communicate it this way.”
“(The story) was very generalised, non-specific, and had no evidence.”
“Like anything, if there is such evidence to suggest that (it’s true), then we encourage them to go to the AFL integrity or the Queensland Police.”
“I’m sure there will be some correspondence between us and The Courier Mail at some stage.”
Voss also said he had seen no evidence during his playing days with the Club to suggest the allegations are accurate.
“That’s the thing. It belies what my experience has been here.”
“When you’re amongst the players, you would know.”
“I also think it’s important to make the point that we’re not talking about this (current) group. (The accusations) are obviously related to something that’s existed previously."
