The Brisbane Lions would like to once again thank all their loyal Victorian members and supporters for being such a proud and strong part of the Club throughout the 2013 season.

It’s fair to say that our Melbourne-based fans experienced some highs and lows this season, with the NAB Cup Grand Final victory and upset of Essendon in Round 8 at Etihad Stadium the obvious highlights.

Although the Lions weren’t able to come away with a win from their final Melbourne fixture for 2013, there was plenty of positive activity surrounding the Club’s Round 20 match against Richmond at the MCG.

As part of the Lions’ Members Attendance Program, 20 members who attended every match in Melbourne this season were invited out onto the field before the game to form a guard of honour for the players.

A further three members – including Sue Thomas, Andrew Bradley and Ken Mcpherson – were rewarded with exclusive access into the change rooms after the game, and each received a personally signed jumper from one of the Lions’ leaders.

Then, on Sunday, around 100 Victorian Young Lion and Lion Cub members flocked to the Brunswick Street Oval for the annual junior football clinic.

The kids were joined by a selection of Lions players – including Brent Moloney, Sam Docherty, Dayne Zorko, Ryan Lester, Stefan Martin, and Brent Staker – as well as the ever-popular Bernie ‘Gabba’ Vegas.

The Lions players helped conduct the clinic, with the assistance of long-time supporter Anthony Panou, John Hazlett and a host of SEDA students, before spending the final hour signing autographs and posing for photos with their young fans.

The weekend also boasted a successful Lionhearts corporate lunch on Friday at Eureka 89, which featured special guests Dean Warren, Rob Kerr, Justin Leppitsch, Tim Livingstone, Rob Walls and Tony Leonard.

Around 70 fans also took advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a casual dining experience with fellow supporters at Il Duca’s exclusive pre-game lunch on Saturday afternoon.

The Club certainly appreciates the ongoing support of our fans – both at Victorian games and events – and looks forward to seeing you back at the footy in 2013.

But don’t forget that the Lions will be back in Victoria in just a few weeks for their Round 23 encounter with Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

Although this particular match is NOT included in the Victorian Brisbane Lions membership packages, the Club has negotiated an exclusive ‘Lions Bay’ at Simonds Stadium where members can purchase reserved seat tickets.

If you would like to purchase tickets in this area, simply contact our membership team on 1800 216 885.

However, please note that all ticket orders must be submitted before COB Thursday 15 August.

There will also be a return ‘Road Trip’ bus operating from Southern Cross Station (Melbourne) to Simonds Stadium (Geelong) for the match.
