The Brisbane Lions’ commitment to nurturing young talent within its Academy zone has continued over the summer, with over 400 participants signing up for a look at what is involved at the elite level.

The Brisbane Lions AFL Development Pack, designed by the Lions Academy to fast-track the development of Academy participants, has been a hit with young players eager to expose themselves to a new level of training.

Included in the pack is an exclusive Hyundai Lions Academy Training Manual, a fitness session with Academy coaches, a skill development session with Academy coaches, a tour of the Brisbane Lions training facilities, and a 3-game junior membership for 2013.

The pack is available to all participants in the Academy region summer training squads, with the aim of ultimately raising the playing standard and developing talent through to the next level.

The Lions Academy has already produced its first player onto a senior AFL list, with Morningside’s Jordon Bourke taken in the Rookie Draft last month.

Under rules for Academy programs in Queensland and NSW, Bourke was able to be taken by the Lions in the draft with similar rights as Father-Son bidding.

Meanwhile, fans at the Lions’ summer training venue, Giffin Park at Coorparoo, have seen two other new faces running around on the park – Academy prospects Isaac Conway and Cain Tickner have spent their summer training with the senior Lions team for a glimpse of life at AFL level.
