The entire Brisbane Lions playing list resumed their rigorous pre-season training schedule on Monday 4 January with plenty of enthusiasm for the big year ahead.
The players are near the end of their busy six-day week which commenced with thorough skinfolds, weight, mobility and speed testing after a well-earned break where it wouldn't have paid to put on any Christmas kilos.
The rest of the week has been a balanced combination of strength work, skills sessions, personal development, injury prevention treatments and the challenging 3km Time Trial and infamous Beep Test.
The Beep Test is a speed and agility trial that requires players to cover a 20-metre space between two markers in ever decreasing time increments until participants can no longer cover the ground between the starting beep and deadline beep for each lap.
These trial results are confidential for obvious reasons, with 15 other AFL clubs keen to know how each of their rivals are shaping up, with the pre-season NAB Cup commencing for the Lions against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday 14 February at Manuka Oval in the ACT.
In the meantime, the entire Brisbane Lions Football Club welcomes back all members and supporters for an exciting Season 2010 with the Pride.
With 16 new players on the Senior and Rookie Lists - Lions followers have plenty of fresh and mature talent to look forward to watching on the field in the maroon, blue and gold.
So welcome back and GO LIONS!!
