Redden staying put
Lions midfielder Jack Redden says he is loving life in Brisbane won't be heading back home to Adelaide any time soon
There has been speculation in recent weeks that the 21-year-old may return to his home town, mainly as a potential trade option as the Lions chase out-of-contract Crows forward Kurt Tippett.
But following coach Michael Voss' comments last week that Redden was integral to the Lions' future, the man himself said he was more than happy living in Brisbane.
"I've heard it all. I'm pretty happy up here," Redden said on Wednesday morning.
"I've signed on until the end of 2014, so I'm not moving home any time soon.
"I'm happy where the club's going. I think there's a bright future here as well, so I'm staying around Brisbane."
After attending boarding school before being drafted by the Lions with pick No.25 in the 2008 NAB AFL National Draft, homesickness is not an issue for Redden.
He said the Lions had "a family atmosphere" and the speculation surrounding his future was no bother.
"I don't really buy into it because I know it's not happening," he said.
"It doesn't really affect my footy, I know what I've got to get on with."
It certainly hasn't affected his footy in 2012, with the hard-working midfielder racking up impressive numbers across the board.
Redden leads the Lions in disposals (25 per match), clearances (5.2) and is second in the league for tackles (136) behind North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow.
His second half of the season has been particularly impressive, despite some fluctuating form from his teammates.
Redden said he was looking forward to taking on Western Bulldogs stars Matthew Boyd and Ryan Griffen in the Lions' final game on Sunday afternoon.
"The Doggies are really good through the midfield … and it's going to be a good test for us," he said.
"Boydy is a champion player, so it'd be good to test myself against someone like him. It's a great challenge.
"We're building to more success down the track, so hopefully we can play finals next year - it's important we finish strong so we can build into the pre-season and next year."
