The Lions’ poor performance against Hawthorn last Saturday in Launceston was also reflected in the team’s lack of Dream Team point scorers.

The Lions were comprehensively beaten by the Hawks both on the scoreboard and in almost every statistical category imaginable.

The Hawks had 132 more disposals, took 22 more marks and most importantly booted 10 more goals than the Lions.

Only four Lions players collected 20 disposals or more with Jared Brennan leading the way with 23. Brennan also laid an equal team-high eight tackles and was among the Lions’ better contributors.

He finished with a team-high 102 Dream Team points and was the only Lions player to crack the ‘ton’ in Round 16. Luke Power and Michael Rischitelli weren’t far behind with 96 points and 94 points respectively while ruckman Matthew Leuenberger continued his rich vein of form with a total of 83 Dream Team points.

Michael Rischitelli still remains comfortably on top overall with 1,533 points with Luke Power comfortably in second with 1,325 points. Simon Black’s absence against the Hawks allowed Jack Redden and Daniel Rich to move up on place each into third and fourth position respectively.

In the Lions’ private Dream Team competition, there were some significant changes in the overall leaderboard.

CheyneB Brooke’s ‘Cloke n mirrors’ ended Stephen Linton’s reign on top of the Lions’ Dream Team ladder. However, CheyneB Brooke holds the outright lead by just 14 points.

The participating Lions players - Jed Adcock, Justin Sherman and Ash McGrath - didn’t fare much better off the field with neither team able to make any major inroads on the leaderboard.

Congratulations to Scott Bailey’s team ‘Qld Cruisers’ who scored a Round 16-high 2,317 points.

Registered Dream Team participants are reminded to have their teams in before the Round 17 lockout at 7:30pm this Friday.
