Weekly injury update
Lions Physical Performance Manager Brett Burton catches up with lions.com.au to give his weekly update on the Club’s injury list.
Ash McGrath
Ash had some hamstring soreness, but is tracking well and will be tested this week to hopefully play this weekend.
Tom Rockliff
Tom’s got a grade 1 calf strain. Originally we thought it might be more serious - something like his Achilles. But scans he had yesterday revealed that it isn’t which is good news. He should only be out for one to two weeks.
Josh Drummond
Drummo’s surgery went really well. They cleaned up the damage that was there and he’s on track for returning in around four weeks.
Brent Staker
Brent is going great. He is running around 90% now and getting some good volume into his training. All going as planned with Stakes.
Ryan Lester
Ryan is still in his boot and on crutches. He will be non-weight bearing for the first six weeks - that’s the status quo with that kind of injury.
Callum Bartlett
Cal’s tracking well. He’s had a couple of weeks of running now and going through his progressions. He’s looking to return in probably round 15.
Jamie Charman
Charmo’s had a couple of running sessions back now and is moving the best he has for probably six months. He’ll go to the next stage now and it’s week by week with him.
Claye Beams
Claye has sustained a navicular fracture in his foot over the weekend. As a result, he will need to have surgery to have that screwed on Thursday. This unfortunately means that Claye will be out for the rest of the season as the recovery for an injury of that scale is 12 weeks.
