Gun Lions midfielder Daniel Rich answered questions from fans during a 30-minute live online chat at 3pm (AEST) on Thursday 28 June 2012.

Please find below an edited transcript from what was said during the Q&A session.

Daniel Rich: Hey guys, I’m here. Chat away…

Jackson: Looking forward to the game this weekend Richy? Should fine up hopefully

Daniel Rich: Hey Jackson, yeah mate, weather should hopefully clear up for a fine Sunday arvo at the Gabba

Theo: As a 15 year-old playing in QLD, I was just wondering what you did as a Queensland footballer to separate yourself from everyone else. What did you work on the most?

Daniel Rich: G’day Theo, mate I’m actually from Perth. It shouldn’t be too different what State you live in, just enjoy your footy with your mates and train hard.

Matt: Hey Daniel, you have a booming kick on you mate!

Daniel Rich: Cheers Matt

Kyle: Hey Richy, the boys will obviously be pumped for a big performance on Sunday?

Daniel Rich: Hey Kyle, the boys can’t wait mate. It was a great win last weekend, so we are looking forward to backing it up again this weekend.

Neil: Hi Richy, obviously winning clearances is key. What work has the team being doing to improve clearance success?

Daniel Rich: Hey Neil, just at training mate. Practice makes perfect.

Jeremy: What has been your best game this year?

Daniel Rich: Hey Jeremy, the win on the weekend was a good one because it was a full four-quarter effort. That and the win against West Coast at the Gabba have been our best.

Tayla: Hey Daniel, just wondering what is the best/most effective recovery/injury prevention for after the match?

Daniel Rich: Hey Tayla, the ice-baths are probably the most effective, but I enjoy going for a surf or a few extra sessions in my pool at home.

Samuel: Hey Richy! Who is your favourite coach?

Daniel Rich: Hey Sam, they are all really good coaches. Charmo is probably my least favourite

Nicole: Hi Daniel, I have been enjoying watching you play this year. Do u think you're starting to settle down now in the midfield group?

Daniel Rich: Hey Nicole, I’ve been enjoying playing this year too. And yes, it has been great to settle down with a young midfield group building for the future.

Jess: Hi Richy. I’m a big fan, but not so much a fan of your hair. Any chance you’ll be getting a cut soon?

Daniel Rich: Hey Jess. Haha, not sure about what’s going on with the hair either!!! You will have to wait and see.

Tim E: Hey Daniel, awesome work so far this season - you appear to be playing much 'freer' than last season. Would you put this down to being tagged less, or have you changed your game play?

Daniel Rich: G’day Tim, it was a big focus of mine over the pre-season to get fitter and stronger, so I think that has helped. Also, the fact that we are playing better as a team makes it a little easier as well.

Jason: What was it like attending the Hall of Fame last weekend?

Daniel Rich: Hey Jason, it was one of the best nights I’ve been to. It was super for the younger players especially to see the Club’s history first hand. A really significant and important night for the Club.

Nick: Did you happen to have an interest in, or play any other sports when you were a kid?

Daniel Rich: Hey Nick, I loved playing all types of sports growing up. Always been interested in variety.

Tim E: Is Ash still giving you a hard time about your hair style? :)

Daniel Rich: Hey mate, the truth is that Ash only gives me grief about my hair because he is getting old and can’t grow any. That’s the truth.

Josh: Hi Daniel, what’s your nick name at the Club?

Daniel Rich: Hey Josh, I’ve got a lot of nicknames. The boys are loving Thor at the moment…

Kyle: Richy is your nickname "bam bam" still around or is that old news?

Daniel Rich: Hey Kyle, it still floats around every now and then. But the boys love making up new ones all the time.

Steph: Hey Richy, who is the biggest ladies’ man around the Club (apart from Stakes)?

Daniel Rich: Hey Steph, Stakes thinks he is but he really isn’t. Also, Rohan Bewick thinks he does alright, but that isn’t true. Ryan Lester and Mitch Golby are probably the best.

Sheryn & Roger: If you didn't play for the Brisbane Lions, what else would you like to do?

Daniel Rich: I would love to be involved with property development, also plenty of travelling and surf trips.

Zammit: Hey Richy! Are some of the boys getting jealous of Leah's baked goods you get when you train down in Melbourne? Reckon you could put some of them up as the next meal on your "Richy's Recipes" segment?

Daniel Rich: Hey Zammit, great name! Not sure if they can make the recipe list, but the boys do love them. All the boys share them around and have a treat after the game.

LC: Who are the people who inspire you most - whether in AFL, surfing or life in general?

Daniel Rich: Hey LC, generally it’s the closest people to me in life like my family, friends and team-mates. They’re the ones you spend the most time with, so it’s important to gather inspiration from them

Brendan: Hey Richy, who was your favourite player growing up as a kid?

Daniel Rich: Hey Brendan, I supported the Eagles growing up so I loved guys like Dean Kemp and Ben Cousins

Liam: My brother tells me you like to surf, get a chance to go out much? Have you had a chance to surf at Yanchep back home in WA?

Daniel Rich: Hey Liam, I do love my surfing. I’ve surfed there a couple of times. I’m a goofy footer, so I love surfing 'the spot'

Glen: Hi Daniel. Thanks for the recipes. My wife pesters me every Thursday until one appears!

Daniel Rich: Hey Glen, no worries mate. Hope you are enjoying them

James: Hey Daniel, do you get nervous before a game?

Daniel Rich: Hey James, I used to get a little bit, but not too much anymore.

Joanna: Did you ever think AFL was going to be a serious option for a job or did you play more for enjoyment without thinking it could equate to anything?

Daniel Rich: Hey Joanna, I’ve always loved playing footy, so whether or not I made the AFL, I would still be playing. I always had plans if I didn’t make it with the AFL side of things, but I’m just lucky I’m getting paid to do what I love.

Thanks for all the questions everyone, looking forward to the game this weekend, hope to see you all there. Go Lions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
