LAST TIME THEY MET
The Lions played Richmond twice in seven weeks in 2011, with their second meeting in Round 13 at the Gabba.
The Lions started strong, leading by 23 points in the first quarter before Richmond switched on and evened the score in the second term, taking a three-point lead into the main break.
It was a high-scoring affair from both sides, including two majors from debutant Patrick Karnezis, who kicked two goals with his first two kicks of senior AFL football.
While Richmond widened their lead in the third to lead 85-69 at the final break, the Lions fought back in the final term with two quick goals to close the gap to just four points.
However, Richmond quickly responded with five in a row, and ultimately went home 31-point victors.
Matthew Leuenberger (23 disposals, 34 hitouts), Jack Redden (25 disposals, two goals) and Tom Rockliff (27 disposals) were best for the Lions.
