If Charlie Cameron didn’t quite scale the heights of his 2019 All Australian season this year he certainly produced his best final as a Lion.
The livewire forward was superb in the qualifying final victory over Richmond against his arch-rival Dylan Grimes.
Cameron entered that game under intense pressure as the media highlighted his previous struggles against the triple premiership Tiger, including last year’s qualifying final loss.
But any suggestions Grimes had Cameron’s number were quickly extinguished as he went on a rampage.
He looked dangerous all night and his three goals from 11 possessions were pivotal in the Lions’ first victory over the Tigers in 15 attempts in first finals win in 11 years.
Such was his form in his All Australian season that the bar is set ridiculously high for Cameron and his 31 goals in 2020 still ranked him fifth in the AFL and the best of all small forwards.
His best two outings in front of goal came with four apiece against Fremantle and Essendon while his season high 15 disposals came with 2.3 against the Suns in the Q Clash.
The 26-year-old will be thrilling Lions fans for a long time to come after signing a bumper extension that ties him to the Club until the end of 2025.
