Brisbane Lions' Head of Medical Peter Blanch has confirmed that Mitch Robinson (foot) and Allen Christensen's (shoulder) season-ending injury rehabilitation programmes are ‘going to plan.’
Scans in April revealed a crack had developed in the surgical steel plate that had been implanted to strengthen Christensen’s broken collarbone.
Immediate surgery was ruled out given the large amount of surgical work done to the collarbone since it was first broken in Round 11 last season against Carlton at Etihad Stadium.
“Allen’s got his arm out of the sling and he is starting to strengthen up,” said Blanch.
“He’s going to plan.”
Lions Health Centre: Injury List
27-year-old Robinson was injured in the round seven loss to Sydney and had been a chance to return for the final few rounds of the year.
However, Robinson's right foot hadn't been healing properly, requiring surgery.
“Mitch has had his foot taken out of plaster – it’s in a boot,” said Blanch.
“He’ll be in a boot for another couple of weeks and then he’ll start weight bearing on it. He’ll start running towards the end of the season.”
Blanch confirmed the Lions had no further injuries following Saturday’s AFL and NEAFL matches.
