Luke Power and Jared Brennan collected career-best disposal figures last Saturday night against the Adelaide Crows with 40 possessions and 31 possessions respectively. Power’s 40 disposals were the most for the Club by any current Lions player. Travis Johnstone collected 42 disposals playing for Melbourne in Round 22 last year against Carlton.

This Sunday’s match will be the first time since Round 21 of 1999 that the Lions have met Melbourne at the MCG. The Demons have previously played host to the Lions at the Gabba every year since 2001 until this commercial arrangement ended at the end of last year.

The Lions have won all three of their Sunday afternoon matches this season.

Daniel Bradshaw has kicked 23 goals in his past three matches against the Demons.

Lions co-captain Simon Black has averaged more than 30 disposals in his past three matches against Melbourne.

The Lions have not played at the MCG on a Sunday since Round 15 of 2001.

LAST TIME THEY MET
New recruit Travis Johnstone squared off against his old side for the first time on the ANZAC weekend as Melbourne made the trip to Brisbane to face the Lions in uncomfortably warm conditions at the Gabba.

The Lions held the ascendancy for most of the match to run out 52-point winners, yet the margin could have been far greater if not for some inaccurate kicking in front of goal – the Lions had 22 more scoring shots than their opponents.

Daniel Bradshaw continued his fine form in front of goal with a bag of six, while co-captain Simon Black collected a game-high 36 disposals and was fittingly awarded the Sands of Gallipoli Medal as the Lions’ best player for the ANZAC Round clash.
