Captain Tom Rockliff says the loss to West Coast was a step in the right direction for his team – but he understands fans’ desire for a rapid recovery.

“I think (the weekend) was a step in the right direction but you still walk away with an eight-goal loss which is not AFL standard,’’ Rockliff told Channel 9’s The Sunday Footy Show.

“We know where we are at. We have to be patient but in saying that, you’ve got to work hard and continue to improve as a team.

“That’s what the members and supporters want. They want to see improvement in our team and unfortunately the last sort of month we’ve let ourselves down with games where we’ve gone out there and performed really poorly.’’

Rockliff backed Senior Coach Justin Leppitsch and said everyone at Brisbane had to absorb some of the pressure for the 1-12 start to 2016.

“No doubt the pressure builds on everyone, right from the top all the way down to the whole playing group,’’ he said.

“I think Leppa is doing a really good job.’’
