The AFL Women’s All-Stars game on Saturday night piqued plenty of interest across the nation with an average of 746,000 viewers tuning in, peaking at 1.05 million viewers and exceeding the AFL’s expectations.
Lions Marquee players, Tayla Harris and Sabrina Frederick-Traub, and newly-signed midfielder Kaitlyn Ashmore put on a show for fans as the best female footballers came together at Whitten Oval.

Tayla Harris
Teaming up with Frederick-Traub in the Demons colours, the Lions marquee players showed their prowess as a dynamic duo in the forward line.
Harris took some incredible marks, 8 in total, while showing off her signature kick with two goals including an exciting long bomb from outside 50m that bounced across the line.

Sabrina Frederick-Traub
At 182cm, English-born Frederick-Traub proved a strong presence in the forward line, kicking the opening goal for the Dees.
The 19-year-old kicked two goals and recorded seven disposals, four marks and two tackles.

Kaitlyn Ashmore
After signing with the Brisbane Lions last week, midfielder Kaitlyn Ashmore showed Lions fans what they’re in for in an exciting game for the Western Bulldogs.
The elite runner demonstrated a strong pace across the field while she went forward and kick two goals and recorded 16 disposals.
The AFL have celebrated Saturday night’s match after television ratings and crowd numbers far exceeded the AFL’s expectations.
AFL Chief Executive Gillion McLachlan labelled it a turning point for the game in Australia after it won its time slot for all key demographics on television.
“These are massive TV number, and beyond our expectations. It is thrilling for the AFL and our women players,” said McLachlan.
The crowd number reached 6,365 at Whitten Oval.
