The Brisbane Lions can confirm Marcus Adams has developed a stress reaction his right foot.
The powerful defender will spend the next week in a moon boot before beginning rehabilitation training.
After a foot injury suffered in round one last year wiped-out the rest of his season, the 28-year-old has been in some of the best form of his career in 2021.
He is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Lions High Performance Manager Damien Austin said the Club remained confident Adams would return to action this season.
“Marcus felt some discomfort after the St Kilda game and an investigation has shown evidence of a stress reaction,’’ he said.
“We’re confident he can return and make a contribution for us this season. ‘’
