Happy Birthday to one of the greatest Lions of all-time, the great Bernie Quinlan.
‘Superboot’ to his fans, Quinlan is celebrating his 70th birthday today, which is about one year for every metre of his average kick.
Bernie was Fitzroy’s last Brownlow Medallist in 1981, is a two-time Coleman Medallist and a member of the Lions Hall of Fame and the AFL Hall of Fame
Chosen at centre half-forward in the Fitzroy Team of the Century, he played 189 games with the club and kicked 576 goals from 1978-86 and was a five-time Fitzroy leading goal-kicker, all after nine years at the old Footscray.
He’s 10th on the all-time AFL games list and 11th on the all-time goal list and is only of football’s real treasures.
Happy Birthday, Bernie!
