THE BRISBANE Lions say Michael Voss' coaching future will be assessed at the end of the year, refuting claims his tenure will be decided in the next two months.
The Courier Mail on Saturday reported Voss, whose contract expires at the end of this season, has been told his job is safe until the Lions' meeting with Gold Coast in round 15 but would have no assurances thereafter.
However, club chief executive Malcolm Holmes reiterated earlier calls made by the club that the Lions would wait until the end of the season before making any decisions.
“The Brisbane Lions have consistently stated that the club's senior coaching position will not be reviewed until the end of the season,” Holmes said in a statement on Saturday afternoon.
“As such we will not be providing a running commentary on the matter.”
The report stated Holmes and football manager Dean Warren will be asked to present recommendations on the senior coach to the board after the Suns clash.
The Lions face some tough challenges before then, with meetings against top-eight hopefuls Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood, Fremantle, Geelong and Hawthorn preceding the round 15 match.

Voss' side has won only two games this season after an impressive NAB Cup where they won the pre-season competition.
The report says if Voss loses his job before the end of the year assistant coach Mark Harvey will be asked to stand in as caretaker, while also suggesting former Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos could be a target.
In April, Holmes said the club was "very supportive" of Voss.
"He's the coach of our side and we'll leave the decision until the end of the year and let him focus on winning football games," Holmes said.
"My view is he's doing a very, very good job in developing a young list. He's acutely aware of the job at hand. He's hard working and you couldn't question his work ethic and footy nous.
"As far as we're concerned we'll leave it to the end of the year."
