After the success of our inaugural “Talent Identification Camps” run by the Hyundai Brisbane Lions Academy and Brisbane Lions Fan Development departments it is with great pleasure that we can announce the following boys have been invited to join the Academy program for 2013! These boys will be contacted directly next week to further explain the Academy program.
- Camp 1:
- Cooper Bermingham (Noosa)
- Jacob Apted (Redlands)
- Matthew Deeth (Kenmore)
- Jack Cowen (Morningside)
- Mac Herring (Coorparoo
- Camp 2:
- Oliver Ritchie (Morningside)
- Alex Barnes (Everton)
- Kade Luck (Mt Gravatt)
- Max Dillon (Morningside)
A number of factors were taken into consideration when selecting the players including skill level, game knowledge, fitness levels, and attitude. It should be also noted that what club the boys play at has no influence on their selection, rather it was their performances and attitude on and off the field along with their willingness to learn that caught the eye of the Academy staff.
Junior players can enter, exit and re-enter the Brisbane Lions Academy at any stage depending on a player’s attitude, commitment, improvement and ongoing development. All players in the Academy program are reviewed annually before deciding on which players will continue on the following year.
For those boys who have missed out on selection we encourage you to regularly seek feedback on things you can improve on in your games from your club and/or regional AFLQ talent coaches and continue to work hard on all areas of your game as much as possible.
Academy staff are out constantly watching games throughout the football season and there are a number of boys across all age groups that will be monitored over the coming months to further assess their abilities.
