The Brisbane Lions have swept nominations at the Queensland Sport Awards and Hall of Fame with three nominations.
Off the back of their historic 2021 Premiership, the Brisbane Lions AFLW team have been nominated for the 2021 XXXX Queensland Team of the Year.
Other nominees in the category include the Australian Women’s Olympic 4x100 Freestyle Team, the Queensland Maroons Women’s Origin Team, the Queensland Reds Super Rugby AU Team, and the Queensland Bull Sheffield Shield Cricket Team.
Brisbane Lions Head of Women’s Football Breanna Brock has received a nod for the 2021 Gallagher Queensland Administrator of the Year for her achievements at the Brisbane Lions.
Under Brock’s direction the AFLW program has gone from strength-to-strength, culminating in the Club securing its inaugural Premiership in 2021.
Brock was previously recognised as the 2018 Football Women of the Year.
AFLW Premiership Coach Craig Starcevich was nominated for 2021 LGAQ Queensland Coach of the Year after he coached the Lions to their maiden AFLW Premiership.
The nomination follows Starcevich’s recognition as the 2021 AFL Coaches Association AFLW Senior Coach of the Year.
Running since 1995, the Queensland Sport Awards celebrate the achievements of athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and organisations on an annual basis.
The Queensland Sport Award winners will be announced on November 25 at the Queensland Sport Awards and Hall of Fame Presentation.
