The premiership winning side of the inaugural NAB AFL Women’s Competition will be honoured with a diamond premiership ring following Saturday’s Grand Final at Metricon Stadium.
The AFL and Musson Jewellers have partnered together to celebrate the winning side, with Musson producing 23 custom-made rings for the 22 premiership players and their coach.
“We are thrilled with the three-year partnership between Musson and the AFL to create such a commemorative item of jewellery for our pioneering women,” said AFL General Football Operations, Simon Lethlean.
The bespoke ring replicates the distinctive NAB AFL Women’s ‘W’ logo in 18ct white gold, with both shoulders of the ring featuring eight white diamonds and the premiership year engraved on the band.
Olivar Musson, Musson’s Creative Director, said that the ring was designed to capture the empowerment of winning the first Women’s AFL Premiership.
“I wanted the ring to be a strong design as it encapsulates the power and determination synonymous with winning a premiership.” said Olivar Musson.
“The design is very clean and contemporary, it is a statement but also a wearable ring”
AFL premiership teams have traditionally been awarded premiership medallions. The woman’s team will receive this memento as well as the Musson diamond ring. The champion players and their coach will presented these symbolic tokens during a ceremony (TBA) in the city of the premiership club.
