Scans have cleared Brisbane Lions midfielder Jarryd Lyons of any structural damage to his ribs.
Lyons was initially taken from the ground in the second quarter of Thursday night’s match with Melbourne after being hit with a knee to his body in a marking contest.
The tough 29-year-old returned to the field before eventually being subbed out in the final term and replaced by Medical Substitute, Callum Ah Chee.
The club said following the match it was confident Lyons was just experiencing soreness, though sent him for scans on Saturday to be certain - and fortunately he was officially cleared of any breaks or fractures.
