SKILLS COACH Ben Hudson says the Lions must nullify the impact of the Suns’ Harley Bennell in Q-Clash 10 tomorrow afternoon at The Gabba.
The midfielder kicked two goals and had 31 possessions last time the two teams met in Round 5.
“Gold Coast’s side have a lot of speed so we’ve got to try and match them in that area.
“Obviously both teams aren’t in too good form but we need the win and we’ll be looking forward to taking the four points.
“Their speed on the wing is something we’ll need to manage, (Harley) Bennell played well against us last time.
“The others are their key forwards in Dixon, Day and Lynch.
“It’s a challenge for our key defenders in Merrett and Clark to hold them down and that will go a long way to taking the four points.”
Hudson said debut of Bendigo product Billy Evans had brought some added excitement to the team ahead of the clash.
“A young Victorian lad, he’s a very clean in and under player.
“It’s a credit to Luke McGuane who’s also back in the side, he’s obviously been out for a while with injury and worked his way back in the NEAFL.
“Both deserve their opportunity.”
