The Lions' best second quarter for the year

Even though the opening term was ugly, the Lions produced their best second quarter for the year (+37 points).

After giving up 10 turnovers in their defensive half in the first quarter, the Lions improved their retention rate, turning it over just twice in their defensive half, and winning three forward half intercepts of their own for the quarter.

It is the fourth time this Season that the Lions have won a second quarter.

 

Goals from outside the paint

A long bomb from Daniel Rich made it four of the last five goals for the Lions in the second quarter. Brisbane has scored 23 goals from shots taken outside their forward 50 this season, with Daniel Rich accounting for five of these goals.

 

Cutler’s efficiency

Defender Tom Cutler collected 24 disposals on Sunday against the Cats. The 21-year-old was running at 96% efficiency to go with his one goal.

Time spent in the Lions’ forward half in the second quarter

After conceding seven goals to the Cats and playing just 35 per cent of the first quarter in their attacking half, the Lions did well to kick six of their own from 52 per cent of time in their forward half.
