James Polkinghorne’s match-winning torpedo against West Coast last Sunday has been nominated for the Round 10 Origin Goal of the Year.

Polkinghorne earned the nod after unloading the bomb from well outside 50m after a quick passage of play which saw the Lions transition the ball from full-back in a blink of the eye.

The commentators described it as a “brave kick”, but it proved enough to get the Lions over the line by two points in the dying moments of a memorable win.

Polkinghorne is one of three nominees vying for this week's Goal of the Year honour - along with Hamish Hartlett (Port Aelaide) and Lewis Jetta (Sydney) - with an online vote to determine the eventual winner.

Lions fans are encouraged to CLICK HERE and cast their votes now for Polks. You can watch a replay at the bottom of this page.

Fans who vote will also go into the running for the major prize draw thanks to Origin.

Voting is open now and will close NEXT Monday 11 June at 12pm.

At the conclusion of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season, the All-Australian Selection Committee shall select the three best goals and marks from the 23 weekly selections from the AFL panel, along with any public selections that differ.
