Victorian-based fans will get an opportunity to pay their respects to retired Brisbane Lions champion Simon Black at a special event held early in the new year.

The Club will host an official ‘Simon Black Tribute Luncheon’ at the RACV Club in Melbourne’s CBD on Friday 14 February (Valentine’s Day) – the day after the Lions’ first NAB Challenge match against Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium – to honour one of the greatest players of all time.

Black will be joined in the room by the entire Lions travelling squad, as well as a host of other high-profile special guests – including former premiership teammates and coaches.

The event will reflect back on all of the significant milestones from Black’s decorated AFL career – from the day he was drafted with Pick No.31 at the 1997 AFL National Draft, right up to his decision to hang up the boots in October, and everything in between.

And with one of the greatest CVs in VFL/AFL history – which includes 322 senior games, three premierships, a Brownlow Medal, a Norm Smith Medal, three Club Championships, multiple All Australian selections – there will be plenty to get through.

Fans will soon be given the chance to vote for their favourite Simon Black moment via lions.com.au – with the most popular selections set to be revealed throughout the luncheon.

Tickets to the event are $150 per person ($1,500 for a table of 10), and with a room capacity of just 400 guests, are predicted to sell-out quickly.

A limited number of tickets are also available for $250 ($2,000 for a table of 8) and provide guests with the added benefit of sitting on a table with two current Brisbane Lions players.
