Brisbane Lions reigning Club Champion Joel Patfull has committed to the Brisbane Lions by signing a new deal which will see him at the Club until at least the end of 2015.
Patfull, 28, joins fellow Free Agent Daniel Merrett in re-signing with the Club in recent weeks.
The South Australian product joined the Lions in 2005 after being delisted by Port Adelaide, and has gone on to pay dividends as a solid and reliable member of the Lions’ back six.
Patfull’s career highlight so far has no doubt been his brilliant 2012 season, where his no-thrills, yet consistent, efforts throughout the year were recognised by the Lions’ match committee with his first Merrett-Murray Medal as the Club’s Best and Fairest player.
Patfull said that it was an easy decision to re-sign.
“I’ve been with the Brisbane Lions for eight years now and this footy Club is like home to me – we’ve got a great group of people here and a great culture, and it didn’t even cross my mind to look anywhere else,” he said.
“I couldn’t be more excited about the direction that our group is going in – we’ve got some amazingly talented young guys coming through in the team, and I can’t wait to be a part of the success that I know is just around the corner for us.”
Brisbane Lions GM Football Operations, Dean Warren, said: “Joel has always been an integral member of the team and we’re thrilled to have him extend his time at the Club.”
“Joel gets his job done week in, week out, with very little fuss, and he is the absolute epitome of a team player.”
