A squad of 40 players in contention for the 2024 Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year has been announced, with two Lions on the list.
Reigning J.J Liston Medallist, Jarryd Lyons earnt his second successive selection in the squad while Deven Robertson, who has been in supreme form throughout the season, has been rewarded with his first selection in the VFL Team of the Year Squad.
Lyons has enjoyed another stellar year in the VFL, playing 15 matches and averaging 29.5 disposals along with 8.6 score involvements and eight clearances.
Adding another string to his bow, Lyons has booted 18 goals becoming a threat not only around the ground but on the scoreboard as well.
Robertson, who has teamed up with Lyons in the midfield to form a lethal combination, has consistently been amongst the best players list each week.
Averaging 26.5 disposals, 7.3 score involvements and 7.2 clearances, Robertson has put his case forward for his first selection in the VFL Team of the Year.
The final team of 24 players will be named on Monday, September 16 at the 2024 VFL and VFLW Awards. A captain and coach will also be selected.
