Captain Tom Rockliff says the Lions are doing plenty right despite three losses to start the season – they just need to extend those good periods during games.

The Lions have endured a tough start to 2016, down against three high-quality teams in West Coast in Perth, North Melbourne at the Gabba, and Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

They return home to play an undefeated Gold Coast in QClash 11 on Saturday desperate to cause a boilover in front of a big Gabba crowd.

Rockliff, who will miss the game as he continues to recover from a calf injury sustained against the Kangaroos, said: “It hasn't been an ideal start, but I think the boys have enough confidence and enough good signs from the first two games.

“We are doing so much right, it's just about doing it for extended periods of time."

Rockliff encouraged Mitch Robinson to maintain his attack on the football after the Lions enforcer escaped punishment from the Match Review Panel after being reported for a bump on Cats skipper Joel Selwood on Sunday.

"I think you like him to play on the edge but he's got to get the balance right,” said Rockliff.

"The best way for Mitch to do that is to attack the footy.”

Robinson will likely see some time on Gold Coast skipper Gary Ablett on Saturday, the Lions already signaling their intentions to make Ablett work for his kicks.
