The Brisbane Lions players do a lot around the community that goes unnoticed. The team has developed a sense of community involvement that is highly valued by all players.
Earlier this year the Lions visited a number of regional schools, hospitals and facilities across South East Queensland as part of the AFL Australia Post Community Camp. The initiative empowers players to connect with regional youths and establish a sense of community amongst players and young fans.
Brisbane Lions midfielder, Mitch Robinson, is one player who strongly believes in the importance of contributing to community growth and wellbeing.
“As a professional athlete and a parent, being active and healthy is an enormous priority for myself and my family,” said Robinson
Over the next 7 days Robinson will be counting his steps to fundraise for the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute Stepathon.
“Raising money and awareness for such a great campaign for children’s health is very important to me,” Robinson said.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have two beautiful, healthy children and after hearing about the work Murdoch Institute does for sick children, I had to get involved in any way I could. “
Robinson hopes to fundraise $500 towards the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute by walking 100,000 steps before Monday 13th March.
