Alex Witherden told The Roar Deal today with so much uncertainty at a time like this, it has made him, and his teammates, cherish what they do for a living even more.
“If anything over the last few weeks it’s reminded us not to take it for granted and how lucky we are to play footy, so I think everyone is rejuvenated by that,” Witherden said.
“We’ve got to cherish every game. Who knows what will happen over the next one, two, three, four weeks? We’ve got to make the most of it.
“Even at training today the boys were loving being around each other and getting to kick a footy around because it’s one of life’s great pleasures.”
Witherden said over the last couple of weeks he has focused on keeping a positive mindset.
“Well for me it’s been as simple as deleting the Twitter app over the last couple of days,” he said.
“I love Twitter and I get on a fair bit, but I just find there’s a lot of negativity and speculation.
“It’s quite easy to use a lot of energy thinking about things you can’t control.
“One of the things we’re focusing on is controlling the controllables so that’s practicing good hygiene, eating healthy, looking after yourself, avoiding public spaces.”
