LAST TIME THEY MET

The Lions finished off the 2011 season with a trip to Sydney in Round 24 to take on the highly-rated Swans.

Although the first quarter was competitive on both sides, a dominant second term from the Swans blew the game open with eight goals for the home team and just two for the Lions.

The Lions stemmed the flow after the main break but weren’t able to stop the onslaught altogether, trailing by 30 points at three-quarter time and finally conceding a final margin of 52 points to a classy Swans outfit.

Tom Rockliff was best on ground for the Lions with 23 possessions and 14 tackles, while Swans skipper Adam Goodes amassed 29 disposals and four goals to lead his team to victory.

The Lions claimed their first set of back-to-back wins in the past two weeks against Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs since Round 10 of 2011.

The Lions are 2nd in the AFL for Scoring Accuracy Percentage (61.7%) - second only to the Sydney Swans (63.4%). At the other end of the ground, the Lions are also leading the league in Spoils, with 541.

Jack Redden collected an equal career-high 32 disposals in the Lions’ Round 14 victory over Melbourne, while young defender Ryan Harwood also achieved a career-best with 29 possessions.

The Brisbane Lions Reserves enjoyed a 173-point win on the weekend, with standout performances from Aaron Cornelius (seven goals), Jordan Lisle (four goals), Claye Beams (five goals), Patrick Karnezis (44 disposals), and former Swan Amon Buchanan (39 disposals). Todd Banfield also got through his second game back after injury with 23 disposals and seven tackles.
