Lions.com.au takes an in-depth look at the statistics from Sunday’s loss against Sydney at the SCG.

Disposal Efficiency
On a day when the Lions’ disposal efficiency was largely poor, Joel Patfull (91.7% efficiency) and Billy Longer (90%) stood out as the team’s cleanest users of the ball.

Meanwhile, 13 Lions players finished with an efficiency rate below 70%.

Disposals
Playing predominantly as an inside midfielder, Ryan Lester collected a team-high, and career-high, 27 disposals – 17 or which were contested.

Lester’s tally was six more than his previous best result of 21 disposals, achieved twice in 2012 (against West Coast and Gold Coast).

Pearce Hanley made a welcome return from suspension by ranking equal second with 25 touches, along with James Polkinghorne who has now accumulated 55 disposals in his past two games.

Tom Rockliff still leads the way for the Lions this season with 165 disposals (22 against Sydney), with Brent Moloney second with 149 (23 against Sydney).

Marks
The Lions’ poor ball use – largely a product of the Swans’ immense pressure – meant that very few scoring chances were generated from marks.

In fact, the Lions took just four marks inside 50m for the match, compared to the Swans’ 19.

Sydney forward Sam Reid alone had as many marks inside 50m as the entire Lions team.

Clearances
Tom Rockliff finished with an equal game-high seven clearances, with Moloney the Lions’ next best with five.

After allowing the Swans to dominate clearances in the opening term, the Lions gained some respectability back in the remaining three quarters – finishing with just four fewer by the end of the match.

Tackles
Co-Captain Jed Adcock laid a team-high eight tackles against the Swans, with the team’s leading tackler for 2013 Jack Redden next best with seven.

Redden (42 tackles for the season) is now 12 tackles clear of his nearest rival at the Club, Tom Rockliff (30).

Goals
Starting substitute Josh Green was the only Lions player to score multiple goals against the Swans’ – kicking two of the team’s eight goals after being activated in the second half.

Green and Dayne Zorko now sit equal second on the Lions’ goal-kicking tally for 2013, with Jonathan Brown still leading the way with 10.

Dream Team
The Lions’ top five AFL Dream Team scorers were as follows:

109 – Jack Redden
106 – Ryan Lester
99 – Jed Adcock
96 – Pearce Hanley
85 – Tom Rockliff
