The Brisbane Lions have welcomed back a host of big names ahead of Saturday’s clash with Fremantle at Patersons Stadium.
Daniel Rich, Matthew Leuenberger and Tom Rockliff headline a season-high seven changes to the side that was defeated by Collingwood back in Round 10 at the Gabba.
Rich (shoulder), Leuenberger (thumb), Rockliff (quad) and Mitch Golby (foot) return from injury, along with Sam Mayes, Jordan Lisle and Niall McKeever who have been recalled to the senior team.
Rich, the 2013 Michael Tuck Medallist, will head back to his former home state of Western Australia to play his first senior game since breaking his scapula at training eight weeks ago.
Brent Moloney will miss his first match for the season after being ruled out with a back injury, while Patrick Karnezis, Marco Paparone, Sam Michael, Billy Longer, Jack Crisp and James Polkinghorne have all been omitted.
Simon Black will become Brisbane’s games record-holder this Saturday when he lines up for his 319th senior AFL match – surpassing Marcus Ashcroft’s previous feat of 318 games.
It will prove another significant honour for Black, whose illustrious 16-year AFL career already boasts three premierships, three Club Best & Fairest awards, a Brownlow Medal, a Norm Smith Medal, multiple selections in the AFL All Australian team, and countless other individual achievements.
Joel Patfull will also reach a significant milestone against the Dockers, when he runs out for his 150th game.
