Ruckman Matthew Leuenberger is set to play his first senior AFL game in almost 12 months this Saturday afternoon when the Brisbane Lions host Adelaide at the Gabba.

In the team’s first game in Brisbane in over seven months, the Lions have made three changes to the side that was defeated by the Western Bulldogs last week at Etihad Stadium.

Leuenberger, utility Ryan Lester, and tagger Andrew Raines have all been included in this week’s team in place of the injured Matt Maguire (calf), and Billy Longer and Aaron Cornelius, who have both been omitted.

Following a career-best 2011 season, Leuenberger, 24, spent the majority of 2012 on the sidelines after suffering an Achilles injury in Round 3 against Fremantle, and has in recent weeks built his match fitness in the Lions Reserves.

The final Lions team for Round 2 is as follows:

B: Mitch Golby, Daniel Merrett, Ryan Lester
HB: Jed Adcock, Joel Patfull, Elliot Yeo
C: Dayne Zorko, Tom Rockliff, Pearce Hanley
HF: James Polkinghorne, Jonathan Brown, Josh Green
F: Ash McGrath, Stefan Martin, Rohan Bewick
Foll: Matthew Leuenberger, Daniel Rich, Brent Moloney
Int: Claye Beams, Patrick Karnezis, Andrew Raines, Jack Redden
Emer: Sam Mayes, Niall McKeever, Jack Crisp

IN: Leuenberger, Lester, Raines
