The Lions have suffered a major blow ahead of their final match of the season this Saturday night against the Sydney Swans at the Gabba.

Captain Jonathan Brown has been ruled out of the clash with groin soreness - one week after celebrating his 200th AFL match in style against Essendon at Etihad Stadium.

Brown collected 25 possessions, took 16 marks and kicked four goals in the win over the Bombers, but pulled up sore and was unable to improve enough during the week to be considered for the Swans game.

The Lions will also be without courageous utility Troy Selwood who suffered cartilage damage to his ribs following a collision with Bomber Kyle Hardingham last Sunday.

Albert Proud and Tom Collier have both been recalled into the senior team and will be hoping to make an impression in the Lions’ final match for the 2010 season.

Vice-Captain Jed Adcock will run out for his 100th AFL match while team-mate Joel Patfull will finish the season stranded on 99 games.

The Round 22 clash at the Gabba will be dedicated to thanking all the loyal Lions members who’ve stuck by the team throughout the entire season.

The Club will pay special tribute to its membership 'team behind the team' during the match with scoreboard video messages, a lucky seat prize in every Gabba members section and an on-field guernsey presentation.
