Robyn’s surprise China Tour
Robyn Martin will join the Lions players, coaches and staff on the Club’s official China Tour in October as part of 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
Robyn and her husband Norman will join the Brisbane Lions players, coaches and staff on the Club’s official China Tour in October as part of 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
The Lions will play Melbourne in the AFL’s first ever exhibition match in China - dubbed the Shanghai Showdown - at Jiangwan Stadium on Sunday 17 October.
Robyn was entered into the competition simply by attending the Lions’ Round 22 match against Sydney and was selected among thousands of patrons who also visited the Gabba during the final month of the AFL season.
From Elanora on the Gold Coast, Robyn has been a Lions member for eight seasons and has attended the majority of homes matches this season at the Gabba.
Not surprisingly she was thrilled upon hearing the news.
“I was in disbelief,” Robyn said. “I’m very excited.”
As part of her prize, Robyn received two tickets to Shanghai as an official part of the Club’s supporter tour.
The package includes return flights, five nights’ accommodation, return airport-hotel transfers, a Shanghai sightseeing tour, tickets to the Exhibition Match, access into the post-game function with players and much more.
She is now set to jet off to China on Wednesday October 13.
“I’ve never been before,” she said.
“We’re actually planning on extending our trip a little bit. China is a place we’ve both always wanted to visit so we thought we’d take this opportunity see a little bit more of the place while we’re there.”
“We’re going to see the Terracotta Soldiers in Xi’an as well as parts of the Great Wall. We’re looking forward to it very much.”
