The Brisbane Lions AFC wishes to advise that Assistant Coach Justin Leppitsch will not be continuing with the Club next year after agreeing to join Richmond as a defensive coach.

Leppitsch has decided to move on from the Lions after spending the past 17 years with the Club as both a player and coach.

The 33-year old was initially drafted to the then Brisbane Bears at the 1992 AFL National Draft and went on to become one of the key members of the Lions' triple premiership sides from 2001-2003.

A former equal Club Champion (1999) and three-time All-Australian (1999, 2002, 2003), Leppitsch is still widely regarded as one of the greatest centre-half backs of the modern era. He played a total of 227 games and kicked 194 goals across his 14-year playing career with the Club before a chronic back injury forced him into retirement at the end of 2006.

Leppitsch was retained by the Club as an Assistant Coach immediately following this retirement and has since applied his skill and knowledge in an off-field role with the Lions Football Department for the past three seasons.
The Brisbane Lions AFC would like to thank Justin for his outstanding contribution to the Club as both a player and coach for the past 17 years and wishes him well in his new position.
