The Brisbane Lions wrapped up their 2012 Community Camp on Friday afternoon after two days of action-packed clinics, school visits, and fun with the locals on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

Highlights from the Community Camp included:

-Players and coaches visiting more than 40 schools to deliver the Lion Hearted Leaders program - a schools leadership program which aims to deliver the leadership principles of mateship and inclusion

-Players and coaches visiting ten local Sunshine Coast clubs to spend time with the local footballers

-Michael Voss, Jonathan Brown and Josh Drummond getting up close with the animals of Australia Zoo

-Leuenberger, Wrigley, Yeo, Dyson, Stiller, Longer, McGrath, Beams and assistant coaches taking on the Mountain Creek State School in a game of AFL 9s in the pouring rain!

-A night of fun at the Maroochydore Birch Carroll and Coyle with HotFM and Zinc FM’s Nugget and Todd, including a game of “are you smarter than a Lions player?”

-The super clinic at Maroochydore’s Fishermans Road Complex (the same venue where the Lions will play their Round 3 NAB Cup game), with hundreds of local kids turning out to participate

-The talent combine, which saw a range of 13-17 year old boys turn up to run drills with Michael Voss and his coaching team, the aim of which was to identify local talent to potentially join the Hyundai Lions Academy

Lions Senior Coach Michael Voss said that the Community Camp had been very successful and that all the players had really enjoyed their visit.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to the Sunshine Coast community for being so welcoming over the past couple of days - we’ve got a great supporter base up here and we love coming here to visit the Sunny Coast community,” Voss said.

The Lions will next visit the Sunshine Coast on March 10 to take on Carlton in the third round of the NAB Cup pre-season competition. Tickets are selling fast for this game so make sure you get tickets early by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.au.
