Question: G'day ASH How is the clubs young big men coming along, is there any one there who will star in the future .
Hi Steve. The young big men are coming along nicely. We’ve had a few injuries with Billy Longer and Matthew Leuenberger but they should be back in the next couple of weeks. I think everyone’s waiting for Jordy Lisle to get a crack at the seniors which shouldn’t be too far away. So the Club’s in good hands there.

Question: Are you scared of Browny?l
As a young kid I was! But as you get to know him, he’s a big softy. It’s good that other teams fear him, but around the Club he’s just one of the boys.

Question: Hi Ash, we will be coming to the Gabba for the Richmond game. Any chance of getting an autograph at the Friday afternoon training session?
I will be at the game, watching from the stands unfortunately. But yes, you can definitely come along to training for an autograph. It’s at 5pm this Friday at the Gabba. See you there!

Question: Hey Ash, the boys have been doing really well this season compared to this time last year, what has the team changed since last year?
Yeah we are doing better this season. There were a few games there that we thought we could have won but didn’t. I don’t think anything’s changed, it’s just come together and we’ve got standards that everyone upholds, and it makes for a good strong bond. We’re also getting games into the younger kids, which is good. The more we can get them on the park, the better we’ll be next year.

Question: Can you understand Niall McKeever? He’s come to our school before and I couldn’t understand a word he said. He seemed nice though.
I don’t think anyone can understand Niall, the big Irishman. It’s really funny when Vossy asks him for an answer in the team meetings. He gives the answers and no-one understands what he says, but we’ll just nod our heads and pretend we do. Na, he’s a good bloke. But I would hate to have him at a school talk because you guys, like me, probably can’t catch a word!

Question: Any youngsters at the club who might be the next Scott Pendlebury or Gary Ablett? I would imagine Zorko to be our future onballer
Yeah, Zorks is coming along well, being a mature-aged recruit and playing a lot of senior NEAFL football for Broadbeach. So he’s stepped up and slotted into his spot pretty comfortably. But there’s also blokes like Jack Crisp and Wriggles (Steve Wrigley), who look like they can be future stars.

Question: I’d imagine you guys are able to pull some lovely looking ladies. Which of the boys is punching above his weight, girlfriend-wise?
Ha! Yes some boys do pull some lovely-looking ladies, like myself. But now I’ve had two kids those days are over for me. Blokes that are punching above their weight include the Benalla-head, Tom Rockliff, and Toddy Banfield. He’s a ranga but he’s got a very nice-looking missus. Then there are blokes that don’t have a clue, as I keep saying, like Joel Patfull. Ladies, he’s been saying to me to write in and he’ll get back to you!

Question: Hey Ash, How many times have you been under the knife? does surgery knock you around (anaesthetic make you sick?). All the best for a speedy and healthy recovery. Will miss you out on the field, love watching you play. Will you get to spend extra time with Chase while you recover?
I’ve been under the knife too many times over my career! To be out for the rest of the season is a bit of a bad luck. The anaesthetic can make you a bit sick sometimes, depending on the surgery. So at the moment I’m all about recovery so maybe I will get to spend a bit more time with Chase!

Question: Hey Ash, As a member, it has got me curious - do umpires have 'home & away' games like the teams do, or do they just umpire the games that are in the state they live in?
I’m not entirely sure Dom. I don’t think so. I think they just get allocated games like we do - I don’t think there’s a home and away system. But leave it with me - I’m curious now.

Question: Hey Ash Great to see the Lions development this season. Which current player has gained the most weight since arriving at the club when they were drafted?
Justin Clarke or Patty Karnezis I think. Must be all the Greek food that he loves to eat. Too much haloumi.
